William's Biography

Just a plain old guy in a plain old world.

I was born in the Midwest quite a few years ago. No need to go into arbitrary and limiting things like age. I landed in Texas in the early 1980s and will likely die here. This is an amazing place to live!

I was a middle child and full of curiosity. When I was young and living on a farm, I could lay on my stomach for hours and watch ants cross the gravel driveway that led to our big red farmhouse.

I colored outside the lines and created backgrounds where none existed. I was always what my family describes as "extra" but it is just who I am. I have always been a bit over-the-top, and I like it that way. I was considered the black sheep and my mom actually told me once she thought I would be the one to smoke cigarettes, become addicted to drugs, and become an alcoholic. I do hope I didn't disappoint her by not becoming any of those things.

We moved a lot when I was a child, so I learned how to get along with a diverse group of people. I wanted to befriend everyone I met, but I learned (though didn't really adapt to the lesson) that not everyone wanted to befriend me.

I didn't realize that everyone didn't think like me, didn't know what I knew, and may not draw/sing/write as well as I could. I thought everyone had all the same skills and talents I had. It was a surprise to find out that people are not all the same. Boy, was I surprised the first time I met a girl who could not carry a tune!

I grew up with my older brother, sister, and younger brother. We are nations and the Atlantic Ocean apart now. I call myself an orphan because both our parents are gone and I feel alone without them. As I mentioned in my values, I value family.

I love to laugh. I avoid things that can cause me stress. "Ain't nobody got time for dat!" I want to feel content at the very least, and happiness whenever I can.

I believe in ghosts, magic, and space aliens. Who says we have to see something to know it exists? I am spiritual, but not religious. This diverse belief in many different possibilities has led me to be eclectic in my reading. Though I am currently writing a TV-style crime drama series, who knows what I'll put out next? Just wait and see!

I am an author,  editor, and a solutions-directed guy. I can fix a computer a car, or a great lasagna. I teach to pay the bills, though I love my job. I am a neat-freak and have been called "anal retentive", a work-a-holic, and a bit OCD. It's all good!

I like to find answers to problems rather than dwell on the problem. I think I annoy people sometimes when I approach things that way. What good does it do to complain? It's better to fix things that are broken, but it is not better to try to fix things that are not broken. The wheel works, folks!

I welcome anyone who wants to know more about me to ask me. I'll be happy to answer any of your questions (though sometimes the answer may be that I would rather not disclose that). Just pop me an email. I'll create a FAQ about myself.

I respect others and hope that I am respected in return.
